Group Ride Saturday, November 4: Liberty Station to Balboa Park to Presidio Park

Hi, Evedybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!!!)

Sorry for the later than usual notice. The Weather Lady (WL) said yesterday that there was a good chance of rain showers on Saturday, so I considered cancelling the ride for this weekend. Good thing I waited to see if the forecast changed by today. She now says Sunday through Tuesday will potentially be rainy (30-50% chance), not Saturday.

The WL now says it’ll be partly to mostly cloudy and upper-60s in the City. This Saturday, November 4, let’s ride the route Glen developed for us from Liberty Station to Balboa Park, and back (mostly downhill) through Presidio Park & North Park to the starting point at Liberty Station again. (BTW, we miss you, Glen. Heal and get strong quickly so you can return to riding with us!)

A couple of us have confirmed we’ll ride, but a few of our regular riders can’t make it this weekend. I hope others can join us. The ride will start at the north end of the Ace Hardware parking lot at Liberty Station at 10:00 AM. There are several places for riders to peel off and go back to their cars if needed. Please arrive at the starting point at least 30 minutes early to set up (i.e., 9:30). Also, please let me know by Friday evening if you plan to join the group and/or as early as possible if you’re running late. We don’t want to leave without you. If I don’t hear from you by tomorrow (Friday) evening, I’ll assume you’re not coming. I’ll only send any follow-up messages (changes, cancellations, etc.) to those who respond by then. If you find out about these rides via the T. Ryx Web Site (www.t-ryx.com), and not by email, still let me know by email or text. Our rides are normally in the 18- to 20-mile range at a leisurely pace. We can tack on a few extra miles at the end if we’re feeling energetic. These rides are not races, although we try to break into smaller groups to accommodate faster riders whenever possible.

Remember that with or without the warm temps we need to keep hydrated. So bring plenty of water/NRG drinks, snacks, weather protection (sun, rain, snow, etc. as needed), flat repair kits, and any other essentials for a comfortable, enjoyable ride. If you have eAssist, be sure to charge your battery (-ies).

Directions to the starting point:

From the San Diego Airport (Lindbergh Field) – Take Harbor Drive WEST towards Point Loma; turn right into Liberty Station on Laning Road; turn right onto Cushing Road; continue about ½-mile, just PAST Dewey Road. Ace Hardware will be on your LEFT. The parking lot is ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF the ACE Hardware, so make a LEFT turn into the parking lot. We park at the NORTHEAST end of the lot, so turn right immediately and look to the right for other trikes, velomobile(s), and bikes near the end of the parking lot away from the buildings.

Hope to see a bunch of y’all on Saturday!

Bye, E vedybody! (Bye, Dr. Nick!!!)
