Hi, Evedybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!!!)
Since we cancelled last Saturday’s ride when it turned out only two of us would be riding, we’re rescheduling the same route for this Saturday. Glen’s having some medical issues, so his doctor wants him to take at least a couple of weeks off riding. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
The Weather Lady is calling for mid- to upper-70s again in San Diego, so on Saturday, July 29, let’s ride the route Gary and Glen developed: the Ocean Beach Back Alleys and Byways, but with a side loop through Pt. Loma to the Lighthouse. We’ll start the ride at 9:00 at Robb Field, so please arrive at least 30 minutes early (i.e., 8:30) to set up so we can start on time. The earlier summer ride time seemed to work out for most of our regular riders last time, but I only heard from a few of our overall group riders. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU’RE GOING TO JOIN US AND/OR IF YOU’RE RUNNING LATE!!! We don’t want to leave anyone behind. This ride is a little hilly, but manageable. It’s also mostly on surface roads, but we try to avoid traffic on this and all of our routes. Keep in mind this is an approximately 20-mile recreational ride, not a race, so we ride at a pace that’s comfortable for everyone. If we have enough riders, we can split into sub-groups based on desired speed. We have at least 5-6 riders on most Saturdays, so if anyone is struggling to keep up, at least one experienced rider will stay with you. We’ll even escort you back to the Robb Field parking lot if you need to turn back.
As usual, be sure to bring plenty of water/NRG drinks, snacks/NRG foods, sun protection, flat repair kits and other tools you might need, and any other items you might want to make your experience comfortable and enjoyable. Anyone with eAssist should make sure you have a fully charged battery.
Robb Field is in Ocean Beach at the terminus of Bacon Street. If you need directions, it’s easy to find on Google Maps, or send me an email or text message and I’ll give you the directions individually.
Hope to see y’all on Saturday!
Bye, Evedybody! (Bye, Dr. Nick!!!)
